Purdue women's basketball recruit's skills growing

Bridget Perry and three of her Indiana Junior All-Star teammates stepped on the court at Seymour High School on Monday night with neon green, hot pink and aqua blue colored shoes.

“We got green socks to match,” the 2013 Purdue women’s basketball commitment said following the Juniors’ 86-75 victory over the Indiana All-Star team.

This was the first of two exhibition games leading up to this weekend’s annual Indiana-Kentucky All-Star matchups. When your team gets ready for battle with the opposition, be ready with this niketn.

The senior-to-be at Roncalli finished with eight points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 18 minutes as the Juniors controlled most of the game.

“I thought I played OK,” Perry said. “It was a cool experience and I think I adjusted well. My outside shots were falling and that’s what I needed to work on.”

In fact, Perry spent her junior season at Roncalli expanding her shot selection.Running Shoe, highheelshoes and Flex grooves in the mid and outsole for flexibility .Go ahead to find your favorite shoxshoes in our online store. Known as a penetrator early in her career, Perry concentrated on improving her midrange and 3-point shooting. Some of that improvement was evident Monday as left-handed Perry made 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.

“Before I was always a driver and teams would play off of me,” said Perry,Stylish and popular discount airmax2009 Accessories on sale here now. who remains solid in her commitment to coach Sharon Versyp’s program. “Being able to shoot the 3 and hit the midrange jumpers has made me a more versatile player.”

Perry admits her shot isn’t typical. The high-arching shot stays in the air a long time, but the results are what counts.

“People say my shot will make it rain,” Perry said, laughing.

McCutcheon coach Jeff Knoy, an assistant with the Juniors, likes what he sees of the future Boilermaker.

“She’s extremely athletic,” Knoy said. “We scouted them one time but she didn’t play and I didn’t know how good she was going to be until I saw her warm up and play a little bit today. She handles the ball extremely well and shoots it. It’s a little bit of an unorthodox shot; it’s left-handed so it looks different anyway. She defends pretty well and rebounds well. I think she’ll fit in great at Purdue.”

The Juniors and the All-Stars play again Wednesday at Pendleton Heights.

Hamilton Southeastern’s Taya Reimer, who is headed to Notre Dame, led the Juniors with 15 points. Penn’s Alex Morton led the Indiana All-Star team with 13 points.

In the boys game,What to consider before you buy gemstonebeads. Purdue recruit Ronnie Johnson had nine points, five assists and five rebounds in the Indiana All-Stars’ 104-97 victory over the Juniors.

Don’t fall for this high heel tyranny

High heels. Why? Why do women subject themselves to what is a form of physical torture? And if you say: “Oh no it’s not, my high heels are really comfortable” I’d reply: “Yeah, but give it a few years and you’ll be paying a heavy price in joint and foot problems.

So at 8:45, 15 minutes after the official start, we set out at a walk. Marilyn told us to have fun, and to be careful at the water crossings.

I thought hard about that after Danny, a bit wound up after watching his buddy Galen go out ahead, today shopforshoes for sale to men with low price and top quality. decided that he could not go across the first creek crossing, even though he had gone back and forth on his own the evening before. He was inching closer and closer to the water when the last rider passed me, and asked if we were okay.

I’ll get by with a little help from my friends

x“Do you guys like champagne?” Mary Krauss asked Cathy and myself as we grazed Danny and Galen near her rig.

Silly question. Ten minutes later, we were hosting the champagne in the refrigerator in Cathy’s camper, held to celebrate when Mary’s daughter Clara finished her fifty-mile ride on her pony, Benny.

Mary and I were only digital acquaintances prior to the ride, but after she mentioned Danny’s elegance several times, it was obvious we were on the same wavelength. Bringing champagne to a ride only underscored our shared interests. Before the celebration, though, there was work to do.

Cathy and I were waiting on Susan Bhatt, who hauled with us down to the Klickitat Trek with the intention of riding the 25-miler both days. Cathy and I had ridden the day before, and that was quite enough. It is actually harder to do that second day than to do the extra mileage all in one day, and a harder test for the horse. Susan was either completely insane or just a lot younger and more resilient than us.discount designer shoes and patekwatches provided for you. The over 100 riders the day before were down to a third – a few were doing a two-day fifty, others were riding a different horse the second day, and some were repeating the limited distance like Susan.

The meaning of “limited distance” had been expanded a bit the day before. A surprise release of irrigation water turned the crossing on the orange-and-white loop from moderate to dangerous, with slippery banks leading down to belly-deep, fast-moving water. More than one rider took a bath as their horses lost their footing in the current.

It was a reminder that when we ride even in managed forestry areas, not every element of the ride can be controlled. The surge in water level was man-made, sent down to fill irrigation ditches in the valley, but could just as easily have been the result of weather. Either way,Find an authenticshoes in your team colors or from your favorite soccer teams that wear the Adidas brand. ride management had to scramble. They rerouted riders to another water crossing where the approach and the channel depth were more manageable.

Even before the ride, the water crossings were very much on my mind . The incident three years before at what was probably that same water crossing had led to a year of working with Danny on crossing water. He had come a long way, but every crossing can be a new subject, especially with fast moving water. So while I hung back in camp again, I had no intention of going so slow on the trail that I would be alone up there at the later water crossings.

Utterly, Butterly, even at 50

In an India, where cartoons in a school textbook create political furore,The retailer stores have authenticlouisvuittonshoes an overwhelming response coming straight. a tongue-in-cheek humour brought alive by the mascot of a butter brand has survived – rather thrived — for 50 years now.

Yes, the girl in a polka dotted dress, with a matching bow in her hair, for whom no subject is taboo, no individual beyond her jibes, whom we know fondly as the Amul Girl, has just completed half a century peering down billboards.

Amul and its creative partner daCunha Commu-nications have put out close to 6,000 billboards pan-India. Starting with product-specific campaigns that were run mostly in print and radio, the first billboard appeared in 1966 - the Amul moppet kneeling in prayer, with one eye closed and another on the pack of butter with the words, “Give us this day our daily bread with Amul Butter.” It drew instantaneous reactions from the public about her ‘cuteness’ and since then there has been no looking back.

No offence, none taken
The Amul girl was the result of her co-creator, Sylvester daCunha’s vision of a “child, someone impish and lovable” to mouth the line, “utterly butterly delicious (the brand’s tagline that was originally objected to on the grounds that ‘butterly’ was grammatically incorrect). But this ‘child’s’ ability to so good naturedly rib people and get away with it may not be incidental.

lpana Parida, president, DY Works,Canvas wall art, bestiwcwatches for sale. a brand solutions firm that has designed a coffee table book to commemorate 50 years of Amul hoardings, says consumer’s association with her is at a deeper level.

She explains the semiotic significance of the moppet: “Amul butter is the product that epitomises the brand. In our mythology, Bal Krishna’s love for butter is well known and still celebrated. Further, Krishna represents the innocent naughtiness every mother wants in her own child. In that context, the Amul girl is Bal Krishna. She is extremely lovable and all her transgressions forgiven.”

There is another take on the moppet’s continued popularity. Earlier this year, after ex-railway minister, Dinesh Trivedi suffered a severe backlash from his own political party supremo, Mamata Banerjee over increased railway fares. Amul, in its characteristic style, almost instantaneously put out a billboard on the issue in Kolkata. There was an uproar about this but it didn’t make headlines as did the party’s antics over arresting a professor for distributing some ‘objectionable’ cartoons. Why this variation?

Rahul daCunha, MD and creative head, daCunha Communications attributes it to the regard held by even the polity for the brand. It has been quite a while that we had seen some christianlouboutinshoes coming straight. “Amul is one of the oldest and best known, fully Indian brands and holds a special place in our place.if you like buychristianlouboutin, please search online for a cheaper price. It is also at the end of the day a co-operative. I guess these factors do play a role in influencing the way everyone interacts and views the brand itself,” says daCunha.

That said, he doesn’t deny the necessity for being responsible in their communication; to ensure that no party is offended and there is no negative impact on the brand. The watches consists of eight smaller individual cubes. That doesn’t mean that sensitive topics be avoided but rather strategies be reworked. Case in point: the professor arrest case in Kolkata. A hoarding on the issue was put out, albeit everywhere but in Kolkata.

Mavericks erupt for 21 runs in win over 66ers

The High Desert Mavericks pounded five home runs in a 21-7 rout of the Inland Empire 66ers on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavs scored at least one run in each inning and at least two runs in six innings.

High Desert’s bats wasted no time heating up on a hot day at Stater Bros. Stadium. Brad Miller led off the bottom of the first with a double and Stefen Romero followed with a single. Steven Proscia — playing his first game with the Mavs since May 9 after a stint with the Double-A Jackson Generals — made it 1-0 with a two-out single, and Mike McGee followed with a three-run homer.

Miller had a two-run double in the second and Romero followed with an RBI single to make it 7-0.

Mario Martinez made it 9-0 with a two-run homer in the third, and James Jones’ solo homer in the fifth gave High Desert a 12-0 lead.

Prada: Her Conversation With Elsa

he Costume Institute’s Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations show opens to the public on Thursday, following tonight’s red-carpet gala. The press preview this morning provided an early look at an exhibition that juxtaposes the fashions of two of our industry’s most provocative practitioners with videos of imagined conversations between them.

Miuccia Prada plays herself and the late Elsa Schiaparelli is brought to life by the actress Judy Davis using real quotes from the designer’s autobiography, Shocking Life. The clips,These turquoisebeads are a complete collection of every model available. which were directed by Baz Luhrmann, riff on not only Vanity Fair’s 1930’s column “Impossible Interviews” but also Louis Malle’s 1981 film, My Dinner With Andre.

The designers are both female, Italian, last year paneraireplicas were extremely popular, and have not faded much from the scene. and feminist, but they disagree more often that not. Schiaparelli: “Dress designing is to me not a profession, but an art.” Prada: “Fashion designers make clothes and they have to sell them. We have less creative freedom than artists. Maybe nothing is art. Who cares?”

Still, the curators Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton often make compelling connections between the designers’ work. The overlaps, for example, between Prada’s Fall 2012 Ugly Chic printed pantsuits (which, of course, reference her own 1990’s take on the 1970’s) and Schiaparelli’s circa-1930’s version are uncanny despite the nearly 80 years that separate them. The exhibition is divided into themes.

In “The Surreal Body,” the show’s final section, dresses from each designer are encased in Lucite and juxtaposed with photos of the other’s work. “Schiaparelli is pulled out of the past, made more relevant, and Prada’s contemporary aesthetic is given a rich resonance,” Koda said during the preview, citing production designer Nathan Crowley’s “crisp, timeless” sets.

He was nonetheless quick to point out that Prada resists the comparisons. “She was struck by the similarities between two pleated dresses, her own trompe l’oeil and Schiap’s 3-D. But she told me the eras that she looks at, that’s she’s interested in, are the fifties, sixties,Buy captoesandals and designer clothing online from a leading retailer of US celebrity fashion. and seventies.Do you really need that replicawatches you haven't worn in years, I mean who wants to dress like Ronnie from the Jersey Shore? ‘I really don’t look at Schiaparelli,’ she said.”

Francois-Henri Pinault's Puma: a Bolt from the blue

The boss of Puma's parent business says he has lined up a roster of potential global stars to take over from Bolt as part of the sportswear company's strategy to increase its sales from 3bn to 4bn a year by 2015.

Puma is part of the Paris-based PPR conglomerate,When CD buywatches first came out. which also owns luxury brands Gucci, Yves St Laurent and Stella McCartney, and sports labels Cobra and Volcom. Francois-Henri Pinault, the chief executive and son of the founder of PPR, says he is "incredibly excited" by the prospect of a 100 metres final at the London games with the possibility of four or even five Jamaican sprinters all wearing Puma.

Speaking as he launches the country's official 2012 kit, Mr Pinault reflects on the almost incalcuable value of having the fastest man in the world wearing his kit especially when the Olympics' official sportswear sponsor is rival Adidas.

"In Beijing, of his own initiative, Usain took his [Puma] shoes off and he ran around the track holding them up.it is christianlouboutinoutlet00 that has been often referred to as the supe. And 3bn people saw that on the television."

But just in case, a number of sports stars around the world have been groomed by Puma to take the baton - including Yuvi Singh and Saurav Ganguly, the Indian cricketers, Amy Rodriguez, from the women's US "soccer" team, and Alexis "Lexi" Thompson, the 17-year-old American golfer on the women's circuit. "When it comes to the US, soccer is developing, with women's soccer specifically becoming big. The target for Puma in 2015 is for turnover to reach 4bn, and we won't stop. The brand has the potential to be so much bigger."

Puma has come a long way from when it nearly went bankrupt in 1992, with its turnover growing from about 200m back then. However, many analysts question the logic of it being part of a group that also owns Bond Street brands such as Alexander McQueen and Italian leather goods specialist Bottega Veneta, which sells crocodile-skin handbags for 22,500.

The 'love commandos' protecting young Indian couples

Rajveer Singh is a handsome young man of 23. He has large, earnest eyes and hair that falls over his forehead. He is well-built, quiet, thoughtful.

When Rajveer was 12, a new family moved into the house across the narrow alley. The first time he saw Madhuri, who was then 14, he says he fell in love. "I thought to myself 'this is the girl I want to marry'. She was mischievous, she had a beautiful smile, and I knew she would look after me."

Madhuri, a petite, bright-eyed woman with a winning smile, says she felt the same. Over the years, as Rajveer and Madhuri went to school together and shared their best hopes and worst fears, they fell utterly in love.

In My Shoes: Living with a parent's terminal illness

xIt was October of 2007, and I had just finished another day of classes as a sophomore at American University. My friend Sarah and I were walking across campus to get dinner when my phone rang. I saw that it was my mom. "Jenna …" she began, "it's cancer."

This was the call I had been dreading since my mother's procedure the week before. My knees buckled and I fell to the concrete. People walking by looked confused and concerned, but I didn't notice. My mom went on to explain the steps they were going to take to fight the disease, but I wasn't listening. Looking back on that day, I remember vividly the six words that were playing on a loop in my mind, "My mother is going to die."

My mom and I have always had a wonderful relationship. With the exception of some inevitably rough teenage years,in beadsturquoise tube cutting and forming. we have prided ourselves on having open communication with one another. As one of the kindest and most empathetic women I know, she listens well and always knows what to say. Her friends know her as the one to go to for advice and comfort. She is simply one of those genuinely good-hearted people who cares more about others than she does about herself.

It's been 4 years since that October phone call, and some days are still a struggle.what really makes my heart go pitter-patter with excitement are dsquaredshoes. I have experienced many emotions and fought to remain a strong role model for my younger brothers. My mom has undergone nine operations and four years of chemotherapy with harsh side effects. On a number of occasions, we have been told she has reached the end of the road and won't make it much longer. Somehow, she keeps defying the odds.

I know my mother will die from this. With her type of Stage IV pancreatic cancer, only 1 percent of patients make it five years. No known survivors have lived a normal life span and died of natural causes.

It can be difficult living with someone who has a death sentence hanging over her head, and a part of me feels like I have been grieving her inevitable loss for years. I remember the day it hit me that my mom would likely not be at my wedding and would never meet my future children. I was heartbroken.

A separate part of me is grateful, because unlike so many, I have had time to prepare for her death and to make precious memories with her while she is still around. I make choices differently now. I take time to call home more often and visit whenever possible. I take pictures, because I never want to forget how incredibly beautiful my mom is, both inside and out.

And when she called and left me a recent voicemail,In addition, you can shoesbrandsthe latest collection . I clicked save. Because when the day comes that I no longer have her here, I want to remember the voice that comforted me for so many years:
