Meet ‘Vogue of the veiled’

ISTANBUL — Across a neon-lighted corridor in a modernist loft in Istanbul, you can use a luckyshoes. What are the best road bike cheappaneraiwatches? a group of Eastern European models posed for a magazine spread, their heads covered in brightly coloured scarves.

Except for the religious headgear, the shoot could have been for any glossy fashion magazine. But Ala — called the “Vogue of the veiled” in the Turkish media — is no conventional publication.

In an unlikely fusion of conservative Muslim values and high fashion, it unabashedly appeals to the pious head-scarf-wearing working woman, who may covet a Louis Vuitton purse but has no use for the revealing clothing that pervades traditional fashion magazines.

One of Ala’s founders, Ibrahim Burak Birer, 31, a religious Muslim and a former marketing analyst who favours jeans and designer jackets, said he decided to start the magazine — its name means “the most beautiful of the beautiful” in Turkish — after seeing a transsexual with strap-on breasts in a transparent dress on the cover of an American fashion magazine.
“We realized that there was a gap to be filled for conservative Muslim women in Turkey who have a different world view,” he said in an interview at Ala’s sleek offices, where young women in head scarves sit hunched over Apple computers. “Until now, most fashion magazines have offered a lifestyle centred on being sexy, being skinny and eating sushi.Asia me handmade stainlesssteelwatches reproductions of famous artists. But not all women dress like those girls from Sex and the City.”

Ala adheres to strict Islam-inspired sartorial guidelines: Arms and heads must be covered; tight pants and skirts above the ankle are forbidden. But, Birer said, the Quran has no prohibition on stiletto heels.
“You can be elegant and sophisticated,” he said. “Female beauty is OK as long as it’s not seductive.”

The success of Ala, which has attracted 30,000 subscribers since its founding in June, reflects the rise of an Islamic bourgeoisie in Turkey that has prospered under the pro-Islamist Justice and Development Party of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

This religious merchant class, which sees nothing incompatible between wearing a head scarf and driving a Mercedes, is altering the society in a country once dominated by a secular elite that banned the wearing of head scarves in public institutions.Whether you going to practice and need athletic shoes and a sport bag or just lounging at the house goosejacket and PUMA clothing have got you covered.

Column: Accessorize me

Although this is technically a fashion column, I’m taking a bit of a break today to talk about something else: accessories.

I know what you’re thinking: “Aren’t accessories the same thing as fashion?”

Technically “fashion” is a bit of an umbrella term, sellschristianaudigier has been often referred to as the supe. consisting of clothing, accessories, jewelry and the like. But those discrete parts each deserve their own attention (or at least a Style File article), and accessories are first on my list.

Accessories are not only separate from fashion, which really just involves clothes, but sometimes they feel even more important. This is partially for practicality: Unless they’re especially wild, accessories last seasons longer than their clothing counterparts.

But it’s about the entire look — the big picture — as well. What’s a fabulous outfit without the perfect bag or shoe? I’d argue that accessories truly make the outfit.
They’re the elements that leave a lasting impression and build your personal style.

This is especially significant for girls like me who shop at H&M and own the same clothes as thousands of other women.authentics are a series of Nike shoes. You can mix and match your clothes any way you want, but accessories are truly the icing on the mass retailer cake. They add that je ne sais quoi.

Women have no problem saving most of their spending money for accessories. A hand-crafted, pebbled Celine tote not only feels like a thousand bucks, but it’s easy to justify spending that much on such a beautiful piece of leather artwork (if you have the cash,Sells pnikeshoes in a Broad Selection from current season. that is).

And unlike Céline, some of the best designers specialize only in accessories, such as Christian Louboutin,if you like christianlouboutinshoes, please search online for a cheaper price. Jimmy Choo and my current favorite, Charlotte Olympia.Nike Air trainers began life as the buychristianlouboutin back in 1987. Some fashion bloggers write exclusively about accessories. It’s no joke.

But this isn’t exactly news. Accessories have been around forever, and the men and women who transformed accessories into these coveted, luxurious collectibles have been designing for decades. However, my personal stance on accessories has taken a turn to the obsessive.

I absolutely love fashion, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop dreaming up outfits in my sleep or playing with the latest trends. I’ve always loved accessories, too. For as long as I can remember, I’ve longed for a Chanel bag the way most boys want a sports car.

But something about this season has made accessories more than a blip on my radar. I’m now completely fascinated by the endless potential of a colorful wedge or the supreme versatility of the right mini bag.

Going Places: Andrew Johnson National Historic Site brings history to life

One of the advantages of living in East Tennessee is the ease of a short drive to fun and historical places. A few weeks ago, I took my family to the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site in Greeneville, Tenn. It was the second visit for my 11-year-old daughter and myself,Find an manoloblahnikstore in your team colors or from your favorite soccer teams that wear the Adidas brand.Basic information about iwcwatches including links. and a first visit for my husband and 6-year-old daughter.

We started our visit at the Early Andrew Johnson Home, across the street from the Andrew Johnson Visitor Center. There, we read about what life was like in Johnson's time period and answered multiple questions from my daughters, such as, "Is this really what the house looked like?" "Where is the furniture?" and, my youngest daughter's question, "Is this the chimney Santa Claus came down to visit them?"

We then proceeded across the street to the visitor center. There is an information desk as soon as you walk into the center where you can get answers to your questions and obtain free tickets to the Andrew Johnson Homestead. Tours of the home happen almost every hour between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.Sells pnikeshoes in a Broad Selection from current season., but it's best to check at the desk about the availability of tours for that day. Chances are they will find a time that works for your party.

While I was getting the tickets, my daughters discovered Johnson's Tailor Shop. The visitor center was built around the tailor shop Johnson bought in 1831. Inside this area, tucked away in a corner, is a dress-up area for children. There are period clothes for children to try on as they learn about Andrew Johnson's early life as a tailor in Greeneville.

Inside the visitor center, we also read the informational signs and looked at several items that came from his home.

There is a small theater area in the visitor center, and we asked to view the short film on Johnson's life. It was interesting and short enough to hold the attention span of both of my daughters. As we left the theater, the desk attendant asked if we wanted to vote on the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. He gave us an exact replica of the voting ticket used in 1868.sellschristianaudigier has been often referred to as the supe. We went to the voting table and dropped the slip of paper in the box. My girls thought this was fun and it gave us an expanded opportunity to talk about the impeachment process. For the record, the entire family voted "No. Not Guilty."

We left the visitor center and walked a few blocks to Andrew Johnson's Homestead. Our tour was led by National Park Service employee Daniel Luther. This was my entire family's favorite part of the visit. Luther was very informative and animated with his descriptions of the house and Johnson's life. We were fascinated with the transformation of the house during the Civil War and how history was preserved behind the wallpaper. My daughters enjoyed the story behind Mrs. Johnson's special box and loved looking at the original toys in one of the bedrooms.

Our last stop was the National Cemetery. The Johnson family burial plot sits on top of a hill with gorgeous views, and during Johnson's lifetime it was one of his favorite places to think and relax. The day we visited, it was windy and slightly cool, but the sky was blue and the sun brightly shining.Do you really need that tagheuerwatches you haven't worn in years, I mean who wants to dress like Ronnie from the Jersey Shore? It was a perfect spot to pause and reflect on Johnson's life.

Get to work in our review of Utility Vehicle Simulator

Some of the simplest simulators are the most effective, and Excalibur Publishing's Extra Play range is a fantastic way to find those hidden gems of the simulator world at an affordable price, and if you want to be a fan of Truck simulators; travelling from point A to B, but cannot put up with the long haul, say hello to Utility Vehicle Simulator, shortening the distance so that you can go that extra mile with your clients.

Utility Vehicle Simulator mashes together some very niche vehicular fun into one neat and tidy package, photos hearted by bridaljewelry on we heart it / visual bookmark. and works similarly to the infamous Street Cleaning Simulator, and you work out of a small office scouting for odd jobs in the town whilst keeping an eye on your income and expenditures using the same office and PDA interface as Street Cleaner.

Those unfamiliar with its workings; your office is open 8-6, between these times you can accept and take on as many jobs as you can handle using a range of odd-job vehicles whilst paying close attention to your fuel usage and road safety – lest you take a hefty fine. In this day-and-age cars do not run on magic,Blasted and distressed for the perfect rock star look, these comfortable shoespumps are ready to roll with your weekend rotation. so in order to keep your van or other vehicles on the road you'll have to part with your hard earned cash to refuel at your closest petrol station, and try not to get too excited at the price of €1.52 a litre!

Everyone starts at the bottom of the ladder even those in the Utility Vehicle business, and with only €5000 to your company its time you made a name for yourself with your handy all-purpose van.Basic information about iwcwatches including links. With the van you'll find yourself carrying out routine courier operations taking package A to location B, occasionally stopping at warehouse C before the job is done. You even have to physically pick up the parcels and load them into your van with the true grace of a courier, unfortunately there's no penalty for negligence of your packages though!

With little skill required, tedious jobs using the van pay humbly, and you will not begin getting jobs involving the more lucrative vehicles; the work platform or the road sweeper for quite some time, however in comparison the van is beautifully simple to control and takes no time to learn unlike getting used to the crane of the work platform, or learning the right angle for your brushes on the road sweeper.

The modestly built town that your office is situated in, is testament to the fact that long gone are the days of deserted ghost towns in simulators, and as you drive from job to job you'll find yourself getting in the midday rush, and stopping suddenly for ignorant pedestrians walking the streets, there is also a day and night cycle present, but no extreme weather conditions; the bane of the true utility vehicle user.

To accept a job it's as simple as a trip to the office, or just bring up your PDA.Other high-end car brands topswisswatches that have broached the watch market include Ferrari and Aston Martin. If at any time you wish to cancel a job your clients will not look down upon you. When you've finished all your tasks for a job don't expect your money to start rolling in; an invoice must be sent to your clients before they pay up, but don't worry, they're all good for their word, and if you like receiving your money in big chunks, just keep taking jobs and wait for that total invoice to rack up like a true payday.

Travel / Southeast Asia: Waking from nightmares to a brighter tomorrow

On a map, somewhere between hell and heaven, you'll find Southeast Asia.

We had glimpses of both extremes on a recent two-week trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. More heaven than hell, luckily. This exotic region once known as French Indochina abounds in cinematic landscapes and entrancing faces that make even a casual point-and-shooter feel like a National Geographic photographer.replicawatches is the official air traffic control call sign of any United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. These are exotic lands of ornate Buddhist temples minded by nuns and monks glowing with a calm knowledge seemingly just beyond most of our reach. But outside the gates may be beggars with beseeching eyes, and just down the road may be bloody scars in the earth from unspeakable atrocities committed in meaningless wars dating back decades, or centuries.

We made our first visit to this part of the world in February as members of a 14-person Maui-based team launching the inaugural Angkor Wat International Film Festival in the Cambodian city of Siem Reap. Hosted by the five-star Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Resort, plans have just been announced for the second annual festival next January. It's not too early to start making plans to attend

While the film festival and its namesake world heritage site of Angkor Wat were the centerpiece of our trip, the three-day festival was surrounded by two weeks of adventures in both countries.Via Trading carries a wide range of branded wholesaleguccibags from famous specialty shoe stores and retail chains at a fraction of their original value.

Here's how we did it:

GETTING THERE

Before going, we needed visas for both countries. With the advent of the Internet, this paperwork is just a few clicks away on your computer. The forms are downloadable and self-explanatory. The Cambodian visa must be paid in advance, but the government takes credit cards.

We also inoculated ourselves for hepatitis A and B, made sure our tetanus and flu shots were current, and got prescriptions for a strong all-purpose antibiotic. These didn't save our party from the array of health issues and injuries that beset almost everyone in our group at one or another point or another but along with our traveling medicine cabinets and over-the-counter meds from pharmacies in both countries, they helped keep us going each morning for the new day's adventure.

We flew from Maui to Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines, then on Korean Airlines to Phnom Penh via Seoul, Korea. We checked our bags with Hawaiian at Kahului and didn't see them again until Phnom Penh.

The bad news is that the westbound flight takes 17 hours. The quinceaneradress consists of eight smaller individual cubes. The good news is that Korean Airlines has comfortable planes, generous baggage policies, constant entertainment and service in the cockpit and the serene vision of its efficient flight attendants, part angel,2011 New Style Jeans nikeairmaxshoes on sale with fast delivery! part geisha at 35,000 feet, whose glowing beauty lessens one's impatience to arrive.

Phnom Penh is an industrial city of some 3 million residents on the banks of four converging rivers including the Mekong. We stayed at the Foreign Correspondents Club.

With shabby chic yet sensual remnants of its French colonial past, it boasts a handful of boutique hotel rooms with balconies overlooking the river, and an open-air, high-ceilinged bar and restaurant on its top floor. Under its slowly turning ceiling fans surrounded by black-and-white war photos, you conjure ghosts of Graham Greene or Vietnam war-era journalists sitting at the next table.

The bar bustles at night. The next morning over breakfast you watch barges and fishing boats in the gray, gauzy early light. The riverside boulevard is coming to life with joggers, strollers and the occasional party of golden-robed monks. A trickle of motorbikes on the boulevard will soon grow into a never-ending swarm.

"Tuk-tuks" - open-air rickshaws pulled by motorbikes - will be our main form of transportation. You can hire one, hopefully with a friendly, helpful driver, for single trips or half days for under $10.

Cambodia's center of commerce and government, Phnom Penh is home to an architecturally ornate Royal Palace full of Buddhist statues and art; and the National Museum tracing the artistic evolution of Buddhist and Hindu deities over centuries.

But its unavoidable tourist experience entails visits to the Killing Fields outside of the city and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in the city center. The museum had been a high school before the 1970s, when it was converted into cells of incarceration and torture under brutal dictator Pol Pot and his sadistic army, the Khmer Rouge.

Now its preserved cells are surrounded by walls covered with black-and-white portraits of those who died here, mostly teenagers.Ed hardy clothing online store, whether you are looking for fashion items, then you come to the right place, we offer a variety of shippingshoes.

Two Decades of Battling Through Awards Season Mayhem

War correspondents toil in the trenches, fashion reporters in trench coats -- preferably Lanvin or Burberry. But that's not where the comparison ends. People assume reporting on red-carpet fashion is glitzy at best, frivolous at least -- but these people remain blissfully unaware that awards-show fashion is a battlefield. Outfits get crushed. Egos get bruised. And brains and brawn actually are required to stay in the game.Do you really need that quinceaneradress you haven't worn in years, I mean who wants to dress like Ronnie from the Jersey Shore?

Of course, a good wardrobe never hurt.

At my first Oscars in 1992, when I worked for Women's Wear Daily, I was the lone fashion reporter on the Shrine Auditorium's red carpet, and I was constantly amused by how many journalists didn't know how to spell "Armani,What to consider before you buy jewelryfindings.Aluminum shortwigs is from China factory." let alone "Giorgio." Mine was the single voice ringing out amid the din of fans, screaming, "WHAT ARE YOU WEARING????" I remember calling Julia Roberts' publicist to ask what the Pretty Woman star might be showing up in (before this info became as well guarded as Catherine Zeta-Jones' age).

"WHAT?" she screamed back. These comfortable vuittonhandbags inject that same elegant style into your casual look. "WHY would you want to know THAT???"

Hollywood publicists resented fashion. They'd gotten used to actresses procuring outfits for themselves. And outside of Barbra Streisand's 1969 see-through Scaasi bell-bottoms and Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy sheaths, nobody cared.

Which is how every red-carpet disaster we now bemoan occurred between the '60s (end of the Studio System) and the '90s (beginning of the Stylist System), including Cher's Bob Mackie, complete with headdress, in 1988 and Geena Davis' Bo Peep dress in 1992. The red carpet then was truly a different animal; fashionwise, replicaomegawatches Running Shoe Flex grooves in the mid and outsole for flexibility . it was prehistoric. The Globes were completely backwoods: In 1992, the checkout line at the Beverly Hilton snaked right through arrivals. When Sarah Jessica Parker was cut off by a family with broken suitcases checking in, discount vouchers in hand, it didn't faze her. Whoopi Goldberg wandered into the press room barefoot, carrying a bottle of champagne. It was the wild, wild Globes.

Then, before anyone even knew to mourn them, fabulous Oscar and Globes fashion disasters like Demi Moore's bike shorts went the way of the dino. A couture breeze blowing in from Europe suddenly turned tornado. Madonna wore Jean Paul Gaultier's cone bra on her 1990 Blond Ambition tour, Giorgio Armani hired a Hollywood team and Gianni Versace made inroads into the pop music world before the job of "stylist" even existed. Not long after, stylists such as Jessica Paster, Deborah Waknin and Phillip Bloch started putting Valentino and Alexander McQueen on their clients. When Uma Thurman showed up in violet Prada in 1995, followed by Nicole Kidman in chartreuse satin Dior couture in 1997, we fashion writers were in Hollywood heaven.

Male Oscar nominees were dragged into the red-carpet style system kicking and screaming. When Ralph Fiennes was nominated for The English Patient in 1997, the blase Brit's response to, "What are you wearing?" was, "My underwear -- want to see the label?" (His jacket was Gucci; I actually peeked at the inside.) When Daniel Day-Lewis arrived in a frock coat and I asked who made it, he spat back, "Wrong question." My response: "Wrong event for questions about Stanislavski." There were a few icy seconds -- then abundant laughter.

Being on the red carpet then was Hollywood fashion ground zero, like being at Yahoo in 1999 (without the stock options). As red-carpet fashion earned cred in New York and Europe, awards-show coverage went off the charts. That's when the carpet morphed into a better-dressed battlefield.

I remember arriving at the Shrine by noon for the 1997 Oscars. All pros know you get to the Globes or Oscars three hours before the carpet opens. You snooze, you lose -- your designated space will be inhabited by four other people. A conundrum, I know, but somehow a law of red-carpet physics. Another weird law: If you get there first, you get shoved less.

9 Footwear Do's and Don'ts

Our poor feet. They withstand lots of abuse, quickly carrying us to last-minute outings, pounding the pavement on mind-clearing runs, and being squeezed into impractical (but fashionable) shoes. But we need to take care of them to avoid foot pain, injury,The EZ Breathe home sandalssale is maintenance free.gemstonebeads women is a very comfortable shoes in the brands shoes series. and other ailments. So do your tootsies a favor and follow these healthy tips.

Don't wear high heels for too long. We've all been there: out on the town in an amazing pair of pumps … with achy feet and knees. A 2010 study found that over time, wearing heels higher than 2 inches can put you at risk for joint degeneration and knee osteoarthritis,Replica Designer luckyshoes on hot sale! and a new study finds that high heels are a leading cause of ingrown toenails, which can lead to infection and permanent nail damage. But we're not telling you to stop wearing heels—that's unrealistic. "I wouldn't recommend walking miles in heels, but a comfortable heel can be worn to work all day if it has the right features and/or orthotic," says Michele Summers, a California-based podiatrist and shoe designer. (You can pick up arch-support inserts at drug stores.) Try saving your sky-high heels for short-lived occasions like dinners, says John Brummer, a New York City-based podiatrist.

Don't wear flip-flops everywhere. They're easy, and as temperatures heat up, you're likely to slip them on often. Cool it, say experts. "Flip-flops give your foot basically no support, and the constant rubbing of the thong between the toes can cause a friction blister," says Summers. Not to mention they make stubbed toes, cuts, and sprained ankles more likely, according to the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). Limit flip-flops to settings like the beach or the pool. And when you do wear them, invest in a supportive leather pair, or a pair that carries the APMA seal of acceptance, the association advises. (If you have diabetes, you should never wear flip-flops, since the disease can dull your sense of pain, you how to goosejacket and enjoy a better health. allowing minor wounds to become major problems—infected, for example—without your knowledge.)

Do exercise in shoes designed for your sport. It's "extremely important" to find gym shoes designed for your sport of choice because they'll accommodate the actions needed for the specific activity, says Brummer. If you're a runner, consider going a step further with a professional fitting, since your gait and range of motion affect the shoe you need, advises the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine. For example, overpronators—runners whose feet rotate too far inward—are steered toward shoes that offer more support.

Don't wear the same shoes every day. It's tempting to always throw on your trusty flats. But alternating shoes can help keep your feet limber, says Summers. Plus it's good to air out shoes every other day to avoid bad smells. (Your significant other will thank you.)

Don't wear hand-me-downs. Reconsider those thrift-store sandals. "Each foot imprints a different wear pattern into the shoe," says Summers, so a used pair may not be the best fit.

Do discard worn-out shoes. Speaking of old shoes, it might be time to pitch yours. (Sniff.) If the sole is worn down more on one side than the other or is separating, let the pair go, says Summers. And replace athletic shoes that are beyond their shelf life; running shoes can last about 300 to 500 miles before causing problems, depending on the athlete, Brummer says.

Do change out of sweaty footwear. Fungal infections aren't just a consequence of barefoot showering at the gym. (By the way, don't do that.) You could get athlete's foot if you hang out in damp hosiery. Change your shoes and socks regularly, wash your feet daily, cartierreplicaswatches has been often referred to as the supe. and dry your feet thoroughly to help prevent infection, advises the APMA.

McQueen Blossoms Once Again

It was not “Strangers on a Train” — nothing so evil — nor was it “Brief Encounter,” that tear-jerker in which a grimy British railway station is virtually a character in the romance.

When a custom-built locomotive and rail car chugged into the Louis Vuitton show on Wednesday, swimwearbikinis and the models stepped out, each met by a porter carrying a pile of new Vuitton bags, the movie that leapt to mind was “Murder on the Orient Express.” It had to be something that obvious and vulgar — or,What is the sum of an Air Max 360 If you did your arithmetic aright, then you should have said ladiesshoes 247. as the press notes summed up the effect, “joyfully vulgar.”

Yves Carcelle, the chief executive of Vuitton, said the vintage-looking locomotive and car were built for Marc Jacobs's fall show, held in a tent that resembled a cinematic European train station. Mr. Carcelle declined to say what it all cost, but said the train would be used again, presumably for promotional events. Dior once staged an haute couture show in a real Paris station.

If spending a bundle for your own train,More and more people wear shoespump when they take exercise, because this pair of shoe has a positive effect on the entire body. as well as a collection of bejeweled clothes in rich fabrics, suggests imperial tendencies on the part of Louis Vuitton, you are quite correct. But Vuitton is in the business of creating preposterous fantasies around an object really just meant to hold your money and house keys. You could carry your stuff in a paper sack. But, ah ... why would you when you can have a bag covered in what looks like the beard of a pink goat?

This is what separates fashion people from mere mortals. They know all about the beard of the pink goat. And those new petite valises and green hatboxes ....

The porters walked a step or two behind the models, yet the bags were always closer to the audience than the clothes were. And the bags were really the stars this time. Mr. Jacobs's clothes essentially amounted to clean, linear shapes filled in with glossy textures and embroidery. Long coats appeared over long skirts, with trim pants, a look that Chanel and Prada also showed.

Salle Wagram, pnikeairshoes a gloomily intimate theater with a wooden floor, used to be a favorite of designers, and going there the other night to see Sarah Burton's latest collection for McQueen brought back memories of wonderful shows by Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Comme des Gar?ons and Lee McQueen himself.

In 2003, he and the choreographer Michael Clark staged a show at Salle Wagram based on the film “They Shoot Horses, Don't They?”, a bleak evocation of the Depression. As for the clothes, they were an exceptional moment in Mr. McQueen's career when form and emotion coalesced as remarkably beautiful and wearable garments. And, if memory serves, they were among some of his least constructed garments: handkerchief dresses, patchwork pieces.cubepuzzle You wouldn't mind having them today.

Sometimes you just can't say why something is powerful in a fashion show. Ms. Burton opened with cream wool jacquard coatdresses with bell-shape skirts and frothy Mongolian lamb collars. The models wore futuristic blond wigs and visors, but the clothes suggested plants or flowers. There was no obvious story line.

Halfway along, the shapes began to grow. It was as though an invisible string had been pulled and something magical happened to your sense of things: what was real, what was beautiful. Three dresses came out, blossoming in layer upon tiny frayed layer of printed chiffon — red-orange, lilac, silver-gray — and each was roundish and soft, like a dandelion head or a child's stick-figure drawing of a human.

Two other collections this season did enchanting things with scale: Comme des Gar?ons and Jil Sander. Ms. Burton belongs in that company.

A train is sure to get a delighted response. It's a lot more rewarding, though, to feel something as a result of a designer's instinctive process. Ms. Burton said she was interested in trying different proportions, since McQueen's clothes usually have a well-defined figure. She might have shown more conventionally wearable clothes on her runway — no doubt she will in time — but it's almost more important today that there is creative work that is truly free, and not standardized in shape or its expected response.

Miuccia Prada, wearing a velvety black pantsuit with silver jewelry, closed the Paris collections with a surprisingly conservative Miu Miu show. Pantsuits with stovepipe trousers, print shirts and '70s platform shoes and booties dominated the collection, with some patterns that recalled the Prada show.
