Shopping in China

Where to buy cheap and reasonable quality stuff in China through the internet?  Check out the following online shopping websites recommended by Rong.

Taobao
Everyone in China knows Taobao and it sells everything.
"Chinese eBay" Set up in 2003, Taobao is the biggest online shopping platform in China, accounting for over 80% of domestic online business. Most shop owners are individuals, however, more and more big-brands are opening their official shops on Taobao Mall (Tmall).
The nasty part is everything is in Chinese and most of the owners can't chat with you in other language than Chinese. Maybe this could be a motivation for some of you to learn Chinese .Or you can view online shopping taobao english-Agreetao.

How to use taobao?
1. Set up an account.  An email address would be required.
2. Search items. Type in things you want to buy in the searching bar either in characters or pinyin (yes, you can use pinyin as well!!!).
You can set some search requirements as well, such as arrange the items bases on price or popularity, choose the places where the shop is located ( this affects the delivery time)
3. Purchase. You don't have to bargain over Taobao. Once you see something you want, just click the "buy" button. Then you need to fill in your address and contacts.
4. Pay. The payment part is the most complicated: you need to have a Chinese bank account and make sure it has the online payment service. Then you need to set up an Alipay account (like "paypal", but completely FREE!!! So much better). The fascinating part is almost all the online shopping websites can be paid through Alipay afterwards.

If u want to buy books...
1. Dangdang  is "Chinese version of Amazon" .You can find almost every book published within 30 years in Mainland China on Dangdang and with a discount. The best part is no delivery fee is charged once your purchase is over 29 RMB(4.75USD) and also you can choose to pay when goods are delivered.

2. Kongfuzi
As the biggest second-hand Chinese book online platform, it's the best place for you to find an ancient or limited-edition book. Most of the bookstores are owned by private owners, therefore sometimes the delivery fee can be a bit expensive.

3. Taobao
You can find a lot of Ebooks (especially English ones or acedemic ones ) on Taobao for about 5 RMB (82cents) per one. I don't think they have the digital copyrights, but it is so cheap that it's hard not to be tempted. And sometime it's the only fast way you can get a book for your thesis.

Online Shopping in China: Beginner’s Guide

Most expats are comfortable with online shopping back home because they know how to spot the deals while avoiding the fakes and scammers. But in China it is not as easy with language and cultural barriers. As a result many don’t even try to dive into the world of online shopping in China, but really you are missing a lot. It’s time to get your feet wet, and we can help.

Taobao: The Holy Grail of Online Shopping

Taobao (www.taobao.com) is probably the most well known of all the Chinese online shopping options and a fantastic starting point for would be online shoppers. It is well worth a browse just to see the massives cope of online shopping available in China. Taobao is the daddy of online shopping platforms in China and the equivalent to www.ebay.com throughout the rest of the world. Taobao’s platform differs from Ebay in two distinct ways: Firstly, it focuses on being a collection of stores with customizable spaces. In turn, this creates the second difference, that being the shopping system in Taobao relies less upon auctions, it allows for more instantaneous communication and bargaining with vendors via ‘WangWang’, Taobao’s instant messaging platform.

Getting Started on Taobao

The most convenient way to make payments for online shopping in China is with an Ali pay account www.alipay.com. Although, it should be mentioned that certain online shopping service providers, such as a great many Taobao stores, give shoppers a ‘cash on delivery’ option when making a purchase. This is also a good way to safeguard against receiving goods being delivered that do not match their description.

It is also worth noting that you can purchase Bian Li Tongtop up cards from vendors that sell telephone cards, should you not want to go to the trouble of opening a bank account. This method is also a good option when a cash on delivery option is not available.

Getting the Goods – Shopping Online in China

I arrived on the online shopping scene rather late in the game, and I honestly had no idea what I was getting into. It was only once I’d heard my Chinese co-workers talking about their purchases around the watercooler, checking out clothing online, and receiving deliveries from the post man at their desk at work, that I decided I might like to try for myself. Online shopping has taken China by storm, and the most popular site is Taobao, which is like a Chinese version of eBay, although Amazon (in conjunction with the Chinese company Joyo) has a share of the market too. Taobao is to China what ebay was to America about 5 years ago, taking the country by storm, turning everyone and their dog into home-grown entrepreneurs, and providing a vast array of goods to people who would otherwise have no access to them.

And who is in more need of hard to find goods than expats in China? Expats frequently complain about China’s lack of English language books, good coffee, cheese, large sized clothing, and Western brand “stuff,” from toys to baby formula to laundry detergent. And delightfully, all of these are available to be purchased online, from your home, and will be delivered straight to your door, practically anywhere in the country. Putting it plainly, sites like Taobao are an expat’s lifesaver. But there’s just one catch –Taobao, and other China-based sites, are all in Chinese, no option for English.

Maybe you need taobao english site? For expats starved for a taste of home, online shopping can be a life saver, and once you get started, you won’t be able to stop. Luckily online shopping is often more affordable than trips to fancy expat grocery stores, or import bookshops. The clothing you buy online is cheaper than what you’d buy in a shop because the overhead is less. Online shopping is an affordable, convenient, even fun way to get your fix of the goods that you miss in your day to day life.

Why Buy a Balance Scooter?

When I look back at my own childhood it felt like I was out riding a bike from a very early age. So when I tried to teach my own children at about age 4 I was quite deflated when it just didn't happen for them.

Even with stabilisers on they seemed to tip up on every corner (and going over on stabilisers is far worse than without if you've ever seen it!).  Some kids just don't have the balance at that age. But in fact, when I spoke to my parents about it, turns out I didn't actually start riding a bike until I was 7!

Many parents, myself included, all seem to want their kids to be much more able at an early age these days. Perhaps it's a little bit of 'keeping up with the Jones' kid's next door' who were crawling first, walking first and scootering down to the shops by age 2!

Talking with other parents, one tip I did pick up which seems to make a lot of sense (and I wish I'd known about earlier) is to help them balance first, then add pedals later.  And it's that idea which led to the creation and subsequent surge in demand for balance bikes.

From the basic cheap plastic ride on's, to themed character ones, to real quality models crafted well enough to be handed down through the family, balance bikes are a fabulous way to get your kids starting to understand seated balancing whilst on wheels BEFORE having to think about (or have their ankles shredded by!) pedals.

In fact, with my second child I actually ditched the stabilisers half way in and went right back to basics with a borrowed balance bike.  I was amazed at how quickly my son's confidence grew as he wobbled down the slight incline outside our house (and actually had a smile on his face, rather than the look of sheer panic!)

These beautiful balance bikes are of the utmost quality and are actually 3 bikes in one, which is great as we admit that they are not cheap!  However, if you have more than one child or plan to sell on after use, all Wishbone products are made with superb craftsmanship that will last and last.  Part of their desire is that the bikes start life as a trike so can be used from a really early age.  The three wheeler bike can then simply adjusted to a 2 wheel balance scooter and again converted to make a higher ride position for older children.

I only wish I had this product in the warehouse when my kids were younger!  They both mastered it in the end... but I'm sure I have a few more grey hairs as a result!!!

Ethnic Fashion for Kids

With the festive season on the run, ethnic fashion for kids in India seem to be on the role recently. Parents just love the idea of introducing ethnicity to the child’s wardrobes. It helps infuse the feeling of a true Indian in the youngest generation. They allow their attire speak of culture and tradition and make fashion meet style and convention in this aspect.

What is seems to be debatable in this aspect is how to choose children's ethnic clothing. Many parents show concern on the comfort factor. But whatever it might be, kid in ghagras, salwars, kurti, pajamas and saree also rate the highest on the cuteness level.

Things You Should Know About Chinese Shopping

I like shopping. And something happens when I go to China. Something in the air — either the around-the-clock manufacturing or the settling dust of a run-away economy – turns me into a rabid consumer.

Cute eyeglass frames for $15 USD each. Wooden buttons shaped like elephants. Ceramic buttons painted like porcelain. Tibetan prayer bowls. Cellphone covers for every day of the week.

Some may ask whether I actually needed the same linen balloon pants in three different earth-tone colors.

Honestly? I really did. Because I was on my China shopping spree.

China isn’t simply about the Great Wall or 5,000 years of history. With its economic development, China has become a major shopping destination with its own unique flair.

The Guomao district in Beijing, home of the China World Shopping Mall, features such storefronts as Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Prada.

For me, however, these sterile fluorescent halls with their white mannequins have never held quite as much appeal as China’s other shopping venues.

Packed antique stalls, bustling night markets, and shopping centers divided into booths of different vendors with the same merchandise. That's what I'm here for.

For those inadequately prepared, however, shopping in China can be a complete nightmare. There are certain things you'll have to know to survive your first few shopping experiences.

1.  Sometimes people will follow you

I was seven years old on my first trip to China when this happened to me. A salesperson trying to convince my mother that I needed a pair of khaki pants followed us for several hundred feet.

Depending on where you are, sales associates will be terrifyingly tenacious when dealing with weak-willed customers.

You'll need to be equally tenacious when you're bargaining to get a good deal.

3. It's easy to get exactly what you want

One of the best things about shopping in China is getting your purchases customized.

Jewelry stores often display strings of beads that can be bought and transformed into whatever shapes and patterns you please.

Fabrics of your choice can be brought to a tailor, along with a pattern, photo, or sample of what you want made.

Friends of mine have purchased silk-lined suits, cloth cargo shorts, and even a wedding dress custom-made this way.By the way ,you can get taobao chinese traditional jacket online, such as taobao and agreetao.

6. Vendors expect you to bargain

Modern shopping malls generally have set prices that can’t be negotiated, but vendors at night markets, antique stalls, or personal booths at other shopping centers usually expect customers to question their prices.

But bargaining and haggling isn’t just procedure. It’s an artform. You can see how real Chinese people bargain in a Yoyo Chinese premium video and learn a few phrases to get a good deal.

I've listed a few phrases below this video, too, so you'll have more to work with!

Hoverboard Takes You on a Brilliant Ride

Thanks to the new-age scooters and skateboards, personal transportation doesn’t look or sound that old-school anymore. Urban travelers can now enjoy their everyday journey to work in a more sophisticated way. From smart bike wheels to unicycle electric scooters, I feel we are on the verge of a major transportation shift. Only this time, the mode of travel seems to take us on a ride to the future. Ideas that were confined to the TV screen till date are now being applied in our day to day lifestyle which is great for people like you and me who don’t prefer riding the public transports all the time. If you consider me, I would do anything to get rid of a subway or a bus ride. Riding on a skateboard or a unicycle sounds more “free” to me. Even better than a car drive at times when I am willing to go for a weekend joy ride!

This is exactly why when I first came across the Hover board on Kickstarter, I couldn’t stop looking at the campaign twice. The reason is obvious – It’s not just an electric vehicle; it’s the closest thing on earth you can compare to an actual Hoverboard!

Personal Electric Mobility Evolved!

Now, if you’ve been following the latest innovations we have had in technology, hoverboards aren’t a new concept. But giving a real shape to such a sci-fi concept cannot happen in a day. You need time to evolve and the team behind Hoverboard is undoubtedly trying to make their way towards that spectacular innovation, one day at a time.

This is a one-wheeled, gyro-stabilized personal electric vehicle which has just one mode of contact with the ground and will make you feel like you’re hovering on the streets every time you decide to take your ride on it. Only six people on earth have had their exposure to this Hoverboard and now it’s your turn to try it out.

What I love about the Hoverboard is the ground sensing sonar which keeps the board parallel to the ground. Not only this, your glowing Hoverboard can charge itself in less than 16 minutes. Starting from a pre-order price of $3775, it’s time you book your Hoverboard ride now! Happy Gadgeting!

Advantages of using an electric scooter

This article provides information about mobility scooters, and the health benefits they can provide. By getting an electric scooter, you can open many doors that have been previously closed, perhaps because of a disability or illness - such as going shopping, going out for the day, going for a "walk" with the children or grandchildren. Anyone who struggles to walk or gets tired after walking a short distance could benefit from using a mobility scooter. Using an electric scooter is not an admission of defeat and can make a great deal of difference to your quality of life, and can even provide a new lease of life and a new found independence.

If you are thinking about getting a mobility scooter, it is probably past time to do it. However, the sooner you start using an electric scooter, the longer you might retain the ability to walk.

A disabled scooter can give you more energy because you won't be using all your energy in trying to walk, or push a traditional wheelchair. Using an electric scooter will help to relieve the strain on shoulder muscles and wrist and elbow joints that are used when pushing yourself in a self propelled wheelchair or someone else in a traditional transit wheelchair. An electric scooter can help to provide you with the freedom to go where ever you want, whenever you want. Some models are capable of travelling up to 35 miles between charges, so the distance you can cover is much greater than in a traditional wheelchair.

A large number of supermarkets and DIY stores as well as other shops offer customers the use of a mobility scooter whilst shopping. If you are not sure if you would benefit from one, why not try one and see if it makes shopping any easier. Some places such as large shopping centres or town centres offer Shopmobility, which is a scheme that lends or hires mobility equipment based on the user's requirements, and then provides brief training on using the equipment. If you go on holiday why not arrange to hire a mobility scooter instead of taking your wheelchair, and see if it makes a difference.

By getting an electric scooter, you can open many doors that have been previously closed, perhaps because of a disability or illness - such as going shopping, going out for the day, going for a "walk" with the children or grandchildren. You can go up and down steep hills in comfort and without fear of rolling down the hill, and without being worn out for days afterwards. You can visit friends and relatives at your convenience, without needing to rely on public transport. Most mobility scooters have a key to start them, and so if the key is removed the scooter cannot be driven. This means that the scooter can be left outside a shop, for example, and it can be "locked" like a car.

If you think that you, a friend or relative could benefit from a mobility scooter or a powerchair, why not try some and find one that you like. If you know somebody with a mobility scooter, ask them about it, and what improvements it has brought them. Mobility scooters can mean the difference between managing to live at home independently, and having to rely on others.

Looking for taobao agent?

Chinese Taobao is one of the world's largest e-commerce websites, a combination of eBay and Amazon, only bigger. With more than 800 million items listed, you can find almost anything offered for sale.

For the Shunyi expat community, it’s even more convenient because Ruan works at one of the International Schools, which makes paying in cash incredibly easy. Their ten percent fee is very reasonable, if you consider how much time you will save, and using a personal shopper takes the hassle out of the whole process. So maybe it’s time to give your bilingual friends a break, and enlist the help of an agent instead.

If you are unable to read Chinese, or do not have the time or patience to trawl through hundreds of pages of items, then it’s time you got a Taobao agent. Agents, or personal shoppers, will do your shopping for you. They do the searching, buy the items, and have them delivered either to their own warehouse, and then ship them out to you, or will arrange delivery direct to your home.

In need of a fancy dress outfit for a friend’s Birthday Party, I did an initial search on Taobao, so that I had a few links and pictures of what I wanted. I then emailed these links to TaobaoPlus10 personal shopper, Andrew Ruan, who helps simplifying the whole Taobao shopping experience for expats in China.

“As vendors from all over China put their stuff for sale on Taobao, we can find almost anything. My customers only need to send me an email of what they need (description, a web-link, a picture, a brand), then I will get back to them with the links for those items available,” explains Ruan.

Once you receive the list of matching products, simply select the item you want, send your personal shopper the payment (cash, PayPal or bank transfer), and they will order the product for you. Items will be delivered to your home, and if you need something urgently, they will pay the seller on your behalf, and then you reimburse TaobaoPlus10. If there are any problems with the order, they will help you resolve the issue. Ruan’s recent orders have included Huggies diapers, Crayola coloring pens and pencils, gluten free pizza base, and Vogmasks.

The all Electric Hovering self balance scooter

Segway is fun, more and more people choosed a segway for their daily life. A new site can be seen in towns and cities all over the world at the moment in the form of small electric scooters being used as personal transportation devices. People are finding that a balance scooter in the perfect way to get around quickly and easily.

The new electric scooters have a unique, new and small design which means they can 'hover' a person along a pavement, down a road or path and work both indoors and outdoors.

The electric scooter fad has become apparent after a number of celebrities and online bloggers and youtube stars began using the escooters to get around. Unlike other scooters they do not have handlebars and rely on the balance and ingenuity of the person riding the escooter.

An electronic gyroscope inside the scooter means it will balance automatically whenever a person places two feet on it. Unlike previous similar transportation devices like the Segway, Unicycles, Push scooters an electronic self balancing scooter only requires you to tilt your feet and body in the direction you wish to travel. The pivoting self balancing electric scooter

can then work out which direction you wish to go and send you in that direction using built in motors connected to each wheel.

The battery life of an self balancing electric scooter is outstanding allow somebody to travel around 22KM without needing a recharge. The electronic scooter we tested was certified for use in wet weather. Every 2 wheel self balancing scooter is strongly deisigned and constructed meaning in can withstand the bumps and knocks of travelling around a busy town or city.

If you don't want to spend each day on a self balancing unicycle then battery powered motorized scooters look like the perfect way to get around.

Easier to Make Chinese Company Check

Credit checks of Chinese companies have been made significantly easier with an online National Chinese Company Credit Information database providing free information about Chinese domestic companies to the public.

China's State Administration of Industry and Commerce has launched the National Company Credit Information System which is an online resource that provides free information about companies to the public. This followed the Provisional Rules on Enterprise Information Disclosure act which took effect on October 1 last year. The new disclosure act require all companies, foreign and domestic in the PRC to submit annual credit reports for public disclosure via the publicly available Enterprise Credit and Information Disclosure System which can be accessed online on a real-time basis. With the new online database, anyone can simply log in and access relevant financial, asset and legal liabilities information – greatly improving financial transparency among businesses in China.

- This is good news for anyone evaluating suppliers and potential business partners in China, says Per Linden, CEO of the consulting firm Scandic Sourcing. One year ago, credit disclosure companies stopped getting access to tax reports, which made it difficult to make credit checks of Chinese companies. To get accurate info, we had to ask the companies themselves to disclose their annual audit reports, which they may or may not do. Now, the publicly available Credit and Information Disclosure System circumvents all that, and I think this is a big step towards simplifying credit checks in China.

Screenshots from the search function of the new online resource for credit disclosure which Chinese companies (and any other company operating in China) are expected to submit their financial information to.

The information companies are required to provide includes corporate registration data, record filing, chattel equity pledge registration, mortgage registration, and notably administrative penalties levied by the Chinese Administration of Industry and Commerce. Look for the latter when evaluating a potential partner or supplier; it's an important indicator of a company's creditworthiness and integrity that used to be confidential. The companies themselves are responsible for the authenticity and legality of the information they disclose and spot checks on the disclosed information will be conducted; third parties may report any information they suspect is false.

Companies that fail to submit their reports in time will be recorded in the directory of companies with abnormal business operations and if the company fail to fulfill their disclosure obligations within three years, they will be recorded in the directory of companies with serious illegal conduct, and their legal representative or person-in-charge will be prohibited from becoming a legal representative or person-in-charge of any other company for three years.

Purdue women's basketball recruit's skills growing

Bridget Perry and three of her Indiana Junior All-Star teammates stepped on the court at Seymour High School on Monday night with neon green, hot pink and aqua blue colored shoes.

“We got green socks to match,” the 2013 Purdue women’s basketball commitment said following the Juniors’ 86-75 victory over the Indiana All-Star team.

This was the first of two exhibition games leading up to this weekend’s annual Indiana-Kentucky All-Star matchups. When your team gets ready for battle with the opposition, be ready with this niketn.

The senior-to-be at Roncalli finished with eight points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 18 minutes as the Juniors controlled most of the game.

“I thought I played OK,” Perry said. “It was a cool experience and I think I adjusted well. My outside shots were falling and that’s what I needed to work on.”

In fact, Perry spent her junior season at Roncalli expanding her shot selection.Running Shoe, highheelshoes and Flex grooves in the mid and outsole for flexibility .Go ahead to find your favorite shoxshoes in our online store. Known as a penetrator early in her career, Perry concentrated on improving her midrange and 3-point shooting. Some of that improvement was evident Monday as left-handed Perry made 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.

“Before I was always a driver and teams would play off of me,” said Perry,Stylish and popular discount airmax2009 Accessories on sale here now. who remains solid in her commitment to coach Sharon Versyp’s program. “Being able to shoot the 3 and hit the midrange jumpers has made me a more versatile player.”

Perry admits her shot isn’t typical. The high-arching shot stays in the air a long time, but the results are what counts.

“People say my shot will make it rain,” Perry said, laughing.

McCutcheon coach Jeff Knoy, an assistant with the Juniors, likes what he sees of the future Boilermaker.

“She’s extremely athletic,” Knoy said. “We scouted them one time but she didn’t play and I didn’t know how good she was going to be until I saw her warm up and play a little bit today. She handles the ball extremely well and shoots it. It’s a little bit of an unorthodox shot; it’s left-handed so it looks different anyway. She defends pretty well and rebounds well. I think she’ll fit in great at Purdue.”

The Juniors and the All-Stars play again Wednesday at Pendleton Heights.

Hamilton Southeastern’s Taya Reimer, who is headed to Notre Dame, led the Juniors with 15 points. Penn’s Alex Morton led the Indiana All-Star team with 13 points.

In the boys game,What to consider before you buy gemstonebeads. Purdue recruit Ronnie Johnson had nine points, five assists and five rebounds in the Indiana All-Stars’ 104-97 victory over the Juniors.

Don’t fall for this high heel tyranny

High heels. Why? Why do women subject themselves to what is a form of physical torture? And if you say: “Oh no it’s not, my high heels are really comfortable” I’d reply: “Yeah, but give it a few years and you’ll be paying a heavy price in joint and foot problems.

So at 8:45, 15 minutes after the official start, we set out at a walk. Marilyn told us to have fun, and to be careful at the water crossings.

I thought hard about that after Danny, a bit wound up after watching his buddy Galen go out ahead, today shopforshoes for sale to men with low price and top quality. decided that he could not go across the first creek crossing, even though he had gone back and forth on his own the evening before. He was inching closer and closer to the water when the last rider passed me, and asked if we were okay.

I’ll get by with a little help from my friends

x“Do you guys like champagne?” Mary Krauss asked Cathy and myself as we grazed Danny and Galen near her rig.

Silly question. Ten minutes later, we were hosting the champagne in the refrigerator in Cathy’s camper, held to celebrate when Mary’s daughter Clara finished her fifty-mile ride on her pony, Benny.

Mary and I were only digital acquaintances prior to the ride, but after she mentioned Danny’s elegance several times, it was obvious we were on the same wavelength. Bringing champagne to a ride only underscored our shared interests. Before the celebration, though, there was work to do.

Cathy and I were waiting on Susan Bhatt, who hauled with us down to the Klickitat Trek with the intention of riding the 25-miler both days. Cathy and I had ridden the day before, and that was quite enough. It is actually harder to do that second day than to do the extra mileage all in one day, and a harder test for the horse. Susan was either completely insane or just a lot younger and more resilient than us.discount designer shoes and patekwatches provided for you. The over 100 riders the day before were down to a third – a few were doing a two-day fifty, others were riding a different horse the second day, and some were repeating the limited distance like Susan.

The meaning of “limited distance” had been expanded a bit the day before. A surprise release of irrigation water turned the crossing on the orange-and-white loop from moderate to dangerous, with slippery banks leading down to belly-deep, fast-moving water. More than one rider took a bath as their horses lost their footing in the current.

It was a reminder that when we ride even in managed forestry areas, not every element of the ride can be controlled. The surge in water level was man-made, sent down to fill irrigation ditches in the valley, but could just as easily have been the result of weather. Either way,Find an authenticshoes in your team colors or from your favorite soccer teams that wear the Adidas brand. ride management had to scramble. They rerouted riders to another water crossing where the approach and the channel depth were more manageable.

Even before the ride, the water crossings were very much on my mind . The incident three years before at what was probably that same water crossing had led to a year of working with Danny on crossing water. He had come a long way, but every crossing can be a new subject, especially with fast moving water. So while I hung back in camp again, I had no intention of going so slow on the trail that I would be alone up there at the later water crossings.

Utterly, Butterly, even at 50

In an India, where cartoons in a school textbook create political furore,The retailer stores have authenticlouisvuittonshoes an overwhelming response coming straight. a tongue-in-cheek humour brought alive by the mascot of a butter brand has survived – rather thrived — for 50 years now.

Yes, the girl in a polka dotted dress, with a matching bow in her hair, for whom no subject is taboo, no individual beyond her jibes, whom we know fondly as the Amul Girl, has just completed half a century peering down billboards.

Amul and its creative partner daCunha Commu-nications have put out close to 6,000 billboards pan-India. Starting with product-specific campaigns that were run mostly in print and radio, the first billboard appeared in 1966 - the Amul moppet kneeling in prayer, with one eye closed and another on the pack of butter with the words, “Give us this day our daily bread with Amul Butter.” It drew instantaneous reactions from the public about her ‘cuteness’ and since then there has been no looking back.

No offence, none taken
The Amul girl was the result of her co-creator, Sylvester daCunha’s vision of a “child, someone impish and lovable” to mouth the line, “utterly butterly delicious (the brand’s tagline that was originally objected to on the grounds that ‘butterly’ was grammatically incorrect). But this ‘child’s’ ability to so good naturedly rib people and get away with it may not be incidental.

lpana Parida, president, DY Works,Canvas wall art, bestiwcwatches for sale. a brand solutions firm that has designed a coffee table book to commemorate 50 years of Amul hoardings, says consumer’s association with her is at a deeper level.

She explains the semiotic significance of the moppet: “Amul butter is the product that epitomises the brand. In our mythology, Bal Krishna’s love for butter is well known and still celebrated. Further, Krishna represents the innocent naughtiness every mother wants in her own child. In that context, the Amul girl is Bal Krishna. She is extremely lovable and all her transgressions forgiven.”

There is another take on the moppet’s continued popularity. Earlier this year, after ex-railway minister, Dinesh Trivedi suffered a severe backlash from his own political party supremo, Mamata Banerjee over increased railway fares. Amul, in its characteristic style, almost instantaneously put out a billboard on the issue in Kolkata. There was an uproar about this but it didn’t make headlines as did the party’s antics over arresting a professor for distributing some ‘objectionable’ cartoons. Why this variation?

Rahul daCunha, MD and creative head, daCunha Communications attributes it to the regard held by even the polity for the brand. It has been quite a while that we had seen some christianlouboutinshoes coming straight. “Amul is one of the oldest and best known, fully Indian brands and holds a special place in our place.if you like buychristianlouboutin, please search online for a cheaper price. It is also at the end of the day a co-operative. I guess these factors do play a role in influencing the way everyone interacts and views the brand itself,” says daCunha.

That said, he doesn’t deny the necessity for being responsible in their communication; to ensure that no party is offended and there is no negative impact on the brand. The watches consists of eight smaller individual cubes. That doesn’t mean that sensitive topics be avoided but rather strategies be reworked. Case in point: the professor arrest case in Kolkata. A hoarding on the issue was put out, albeit everywhere but in Kolkata.

Mavericks erupt for 21 runs in win over 66ers

The High Desert Mavericks pounded five home runs in a 21-7 rout of the Inland Empire 66ers on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavs scored at least one run in each inning and at least two runs in six innings.

High Desert’s bats wasted no time heating up on a hot day at Stater Bros. Stadium. Brad Miller led off the bottom of the first with a double and Stefen Romero followed with a single. Steven Proscia — playing his first game with the Mavs since May 9 after a stint with the Double-A Jackson Generals — made it 1-0 with a two-out single, and Mike McGee followed with a three-run homer.

Miller had a two-run double in the second and Romero followed with an RBI single to make it 7-0.

Mario Martinez made it 9-0 with a two-run homer in the third, and James Jones’ solo homer in the fifth gave High Desert a 12-0 lead.

But it didn’t matter as the offense piled on nine more runs over the final three innings, including a grand slam by Mickey Wiswall in the seventh and a solo homer by Julio Morban in the eighth. On a supermodel a skirts shoe completes the perfect ensemble.

Prada: Her Conversation With Elsa

he Costume Institute’s Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations show opens to the public on Thursday, following tonight’s red-carpet gala. The press preview this morning provided an early look at an exhibition that juxtaposes the fashions of two of our industry’s most provocative practitioners with videos of imagined conversations between them.

Miuccia Prada plays herself and the late Elsa Schiaparelli is brought to life by the actress Judy Davis using real quotes from the designer’s autobiography, Shocking Life. The clips,These turquoisebeads are a complete collection of every model available. which were directed by Baz Luhrmann, riff on not only Vanity Fair’s 1930’s column “Impossible Interviews” but also Louis Malle’s 1981 film, My Dinner With Andre.

The designers are both female, Italian, last year paneraireplicas were extremely popular, and have not faded much from the scene. and feminist, but they disagree more often that not. Schiaparelli: “Dress designing is to me not a profession, but an art.” Prada: “Fashion designers make clothes and they have to sell them. We have less creative freedom than artists. Maybe nothing is art. Who cares?”

Still, the curators Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton often make compelling connections between the designers’ work. The overlaps, for example, between Prada’s Fall 2012 Ugly Chic printed pantsuits (which, of course, reference her own 1990’s take on the 1970’s) and Schiaparelli’s circa-1930’s version are uncanny despite the nearly 80 years that separate them. The exhibition is divided into themes.

In “The Surreal Body,” the show’s final section, dresses from each designer are encased in Lucite and juxtaposed with photos of the other’s work. “Schiaparelli is pulled out of the past, made more relevant, and Prada’s contemporary aesthetic is given a rich resonance,” Koda said during the preview, citing production designer Nathan Crowley’s “crisp, timeless” sets.

He was nonetheless quick to point out that Prada resists the comparisons. “She was struck by the similarities between two pleated dresses, her own trompe l’oeil and Schiap’s 3-D. But she told me the eras that she looks at, that’s she’s interested in, are the fifties, sixties,Buy captoesandals and designer clothing online from a leading retailer of US celebrity fashion. and seventies.Do you really need that replicawatches you haven't worn in years, I mean who wants to dress like Ronnie from the Jersey Shore? ‘I really don’t look at Schiaparelli,’ she said.”

Francois-Henri Pinault's Puma: a Bolt from the blue

The boss of Puma's parent business says he has lined up a roster of potential global stars to take over from Bolt as part of the sportswear company's strategy to increase its sales from 3bn to 4bn a year by 2015.

Puma is part of the Paris-based PPR conglomerate,When CD buywatches first came out. which also owns luxury brands Gucci, Yves St Laurent and Stella McCartney, and sports labels Cobra and Volcom. Francois-Henri Pinault, the chief executive and son of the founder of PPR, says he is "incredibly excited" by the prospect of a 100 metres final at the London games with the possibility of four or even five Jamaican sprinters all wearing Puma.

Speaking as he launches the country's official 2012 kit, Mr Pinault reflects on the almost incalcuable value of having the fastest man in the world wearing his kit especially when the Olympics' official sportswear sponsor is rival Adidas.

"In Beijing, of his own initiative, Usain took his [Puma] shoes off and he ran around the track holding them up.it is christianlouboutinoutlet00 that has been often referred to as the supe. And 3bn people saw that on the television."

Mr Pinault,Childs' collection of about 600 pairs of watchreplica is on display at the Yakima Valley Museum for the rest of this year. one of France's richest men and husband of Salma Hayek, says he was jumping up and down on his sofa: "Oh, god, it was amazing. He says he couldn't put a figure on that publicity, but hopes that London 2012 will be the catalyst to complete the transformation of Puma from being a sports and trainers company into a major global lifestyle brand.A cannula with omegawatchcopy a hub attached.

"Being at the Olympics, being seen in the eyes of billions of people, no other brand can afford that apart from sportswear brands. It is a huge advantage for a lifestyle brand to be seen by 3bn people and it enhances the visibility of the brand, the legitimacy of the brand."

He says he is relaxed about Bolt not winning, or worse, not making the final.Examine our qualitywatches here. "All the Jamaican athletes are amazing."

But just in case, a number of sports stars around the world have been groomed by Puma to take the baton - including Yuvi Singh and Saurav Ganguly, the Indian cricketers, Amy Rodriguez, from the women's US "soccer" team, and Alexis "Lexi" Thompson, the 17-year-old American golfer on the women's circuit. "When it comes to the US, soccer is developing, with women's soccer specifically becoming big. The target for Puma in 2015 is for turnover to reach 4bn, and we won't stop. The brand has the potential to be so much bigger."

Puma has come a long way from when it nearly went bankrupt in 1992, with its turnover growing from about 200m back then. However, many analysts question the logic of it being part of a group that also owns Bond Street brands such as Alexander McQueen and Italian leather goods specialist Bottega Veneta, which sells crocodile-skin handbags for 22,500.

The 'love commandos' protecting young Indian couples

Rajveer Singh is a handsome young man of 23. He has large, earnest eyes and hair that falls over his forehead. He is well-built, quiet, thoughtful.

When Rajveer was 12, a new family moved into the house across the narrow alley. The first time he saw Madhuri, who was then 14, he says he fell in love. "I thought to myself 'this is the girl I want to marry'. She was mischievous, she had a beautiful smile, and I knew she would look after me."

Madhuri, a petite, bright-eyed woman with a winning smile, says she felt the same. Over the years, as Rajveer and Madhuri went to school together and shared their best hopes and worst fears, they fell utterly in love.

You know what happens next. This is India, where parents vet a potential marriage partner like Nasa scientists checking a space shuttle before lift-off:

But they were undeterred. As Madhuri's family took her back to the village to forcibly betroth her to a more suitable boy, Rajveer hatched a plan. He called the Love Commandos.

Sanjoy explained that the image of a commando is central to the helpline he and his colleagues operate. Indian lovers need protection and they need to believe that they will receive it.

Madhuri managed to escape from her relatives' house in the village, among all shoes christianlouboutinshoes00 are hot, and the styles on this list are among the hottest. and met Rajveer at the train station, knowing they were guaranteed sanctuary back in Delhi.

That same evening, they arrived at the Love Commandos' shelter to find flowers, clothes and some simple jewellery for Madhuri. More importantly, they found smiles of encouragement and good wishes.

In My Shoes: Living with a parent's terminal illness

xIt was October of 2007, and I had just finished another day of classes as a sophomore at American University. My friend Sarah and I were walking across campus to get dinner when my phone rang. I saw that it was my mom. "Jenna …" she began, "it's cancer."

This was the call I had been dreading since my mother's procedure the week before. My knees buckled and I fell to the concrete. People walking by looked confused and concerned, but I didn't notice. My mom went on to explain the steps they were going to take to fight the disease, but I wasn't listening. Looking back on that day, I remember vividly the six words that were playing on a loop in my mind, "My mother is going to die."

My mom and I have always had a wonderful relationship. With the exception of some inevitably rough teenage years,in beadsturquoise tube cutting and forming. we have prided ourselves on having open communication with one another. As one of the kindest and most empathetic women I know, she listens well and always knows what to say. Her friends know her as the one to go to for advice and comfort. She is simply one of those genuinely good-hearted people who cares more about others than she does about herself.

It's been 4 years since that October phone call, and some days are still a struggle.what really makes my heart go pitter-patter with excitement are dsquaredshoes. I have experienced many emotions and fought to remain a strong role model for my younger brothers. My mom has undergone nine operations and four years of chemotherapy with harsh side effects. On a number of occasions, we have been told she has reached the end of the road and won't make it much longer. Somehow, she keeps defying the odds.

I know my mother will die from this. With her type of Stage IV pancreatic cancer, only 1 percent of patients make it five years. No known survivors have lived a normal life span and died of natural causes.

It can be difficult living with someone who has a death sentence hanging over her head, and a part of me feels like I have been grieving her inevitable loss for years. I remember the day it hit me that my mom would likely not be at my wedding and would never meet my future children. I was heartbroken.

A separate part of me is grateful, because unlike so many, I have had time to prepare for her death and to make precious memories with her while she is still around. I make choices differently now. I take time to call home more often and visit whenever possible. I take pictures, because I never want to forget how incredibly beautiful my mom is, both inside and out.

And when she called and left me a recent voicemail,In addition, you can shoesbrandsthe latest collection . I clicked save. Because when the day comes that I no longer have her here, I want to remember the voice that comforted me for so many years:

French Open run ends for U.S. teen Sloane Stephens

But there was no sad face for Stephens — the youngest women left in the draw and soon to be the youngest in the top 60 based on ranking projections.

"I have had such a good time," she said after of her run in Paris, her first trip to the last 16 at a major. "And even though every day I have been saying, 'Man, I can't wait to get home to eat my grandpa's curry crab,' I don't want to leave. So it's kind of bittersweet that I'm going home, but I had so much fun."

Sixth-seeded Stosur said "inexperience probably showed through a little bit," but the Australian had high praise for her opponent.

"I think as she matures and gets a little bit older that's all going to really come together," Stosur said of her power, speed and shot-making.Need new jewelryfindings for spring & summer? "I think she's got a very good future ahead of her."

If Stephens' loss doesn't derail a breakthrough effort, it did knock her out of the Olympics and ostensibly brings to a close the scramble for London Games singles slots.

Only four singles and two doubles players per country can be nominated, and based on the projected rankings those players will be (current rankings) No. 5 Serena Williams, No. 36 Christina McHale, No. 53 Venus Williams and No. 63 Varvara Lepchenko.

To earn a place, Stephens had to reach the quarterfinals or advance one round further than Lepchenko here. Lepchenko plays No. 4 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in the fourth round today.

For the U.S. women, the plot thickened considerably in the last three months as Venus Williams, returned to action and Lepchenko and Stephens surged up the rankings. Venus has missed much of the year battling Sjogren's syndrome, an energy-sapping autoimmune disorder.

In March, Vania King looked to be in solid position to make the team, but illness and injury slowed her down (she lost in the second round here),today shopforshoes for sale to men with low price and top quality. opening the door.

Lepchenko began the season at No. 127 and Stephens was ranked No. 92 before reaching the semifinals of Strasbourg two weeks ago.

All week, the women tried to avoid the topic.

"I don't want to think about (the Olympics) because I don't want to put myself on the team yet," said McHale, 20, earlier this week before losing to defending champ Li Na of China in three sets. "I just want to wait until the tournament ends and see who gets in.What to consider before you buy gemstonebeads."

Serena and Lepchenko still need waivers from the International Tennis Federation, which oversees the tournament at the Olympics, to qualify.

Both failed eligibility requirements of making themselves available for Fed Cup duty in two of the previous four years.

Serena was out for 11 months in 2010-11 with injuries and illness, including a hematoma and blood clots. Uzbekistan-born Lepchenko only became a U.S. citizen in September.
