Cold shooting dooms Irish

Casey Getha scored on a drive for Marion Catholic to start the second quarter, but an 11-2 run by Northside Christian had the Lions leading 31-9 with 3:52 left in the half. Prinsen added two more 3-point field goals during the spurt and Gregg Tuckerman connected from behind the arc.

Northside pushed the lead to 34-11 but Getha hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left to cut the margin to 34-14.

The shooting percentage did not get any better in the second quarter and Marion Catholic finished just six-of-29 from the field for the first half.

It was nearly five minutes before Marion Catholic scored in the third quarter and Northside upped its lead to 40-14 at the 3:14 mark following a pair of free throws by Robinson.

The Irish went on one of the hot streaks Flowers mentioned as they scored the final 10 points of the third quarter.

"We did not quit," Steve Flowers said. "It was just one of those days."
