Men Wearing High Heels?

The Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center at Idaho State University is hosting an event in which men will be walking a mile in high heels.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, a fundraiser started in California 10 years ago, aims to end sexual and domestic violence. The Anderson Gender Resource Center began putting on the event in 2003.

"We've had a pretty good turn out most years,Thousands of discount pnikeshoes styles for selection." said Dr.Some guccishoe require women to sacrifice comfort for fashion. Rebecca Morrow, the director of the Gender Resource Center. "Some groups, like the rugby club and Kappa Sigma, have always come out to support us, and anyone is welcome to participate."

Rugby coach Ram Eddings said that the rugby club has been supporting Walk a Mile in Her Shoes almost as long as the event has been at ISU.

"We [only] may have missed the first year it started," said Eddings.

Eddings emphasized that domestic violence is everywhere, and that events like Walk a Mile are important to the community and society as a whole.

"The rugby team wants to be a part of any program that will help stop the degradation of the human spirit," said Eddings.

"We teach our players respect for all people. We want the women on our campus and in our community to know that we are totally against abuse against women, physical or mental," he added. "This is a major event for us to support and walk in those shoes that hurt a lot."

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes at ISU helps raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October. Some proceeds raised from the event will go to the Anderson Gender Resource Center's spring event,shoxshoes is a high top sneaker that comes in numerous color ups. Take Back the Night. This event, held in April, helps raise awareness for sexual assault.

Those wishing to participate in the event need to complete the necessary Intent to Participate and waiver forms and turn them in, along with a $25 participation fee and any additional pledges, by Sept. 19 at the Anderson Gender Resource Center.
